MEASURING:
1) If you like the way your current collar fits, measure it from leather/cloth tip to leather/cloth tip. Email me that total as well as the measurement location of the hole it's worn on.
2) Or, measure your dog's neck with soft measuring tape. (If you do not have a tape measure, you can use a piece of string and then measure the string with a ruler or yardstick.) Pull the tape snug but not tight.
Always allow 2 fingers to fit in between your dog's body and the collar. A collar should never fit tight!
If you would like to include your dog's weight, that's helpful, but not neccesary.
CARE:
Cleaning your collar with a leather cleaner will do wonders. It will remove dirt and scuffs and restore the leather's luster. If you would like to help preserve the paint or dye, you can occasionally spray your collar with a leather water repellent after cleaning with a leather cleaner.
INFO:
The interiors of the majority of the collars I design are lined with new, soft leather. On occasion I find a thick belt (usually from the 1970s) that doesn't require additional lining. The hardware I use is very strong, and the d-rings are all sautered. All hand-painted & hand-dyed collars are sealed with a water-proof repellent. The brilliant Jacob has been sewing and glueing and riveting for me since 2003. He takes great care in his work and understands the importance of durability when it comes to making safe collars.
